According to sources familiar with the trip’s preparations, Witkoff is expected to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, while Rubio will hold talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
The meetings are anticipated to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, particularly in light of Witkoff’s recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a potential ceasefire. Additionally, the agenda includes deliberations on Iran and trade matters, especially following President Trump’s recent tariff threats.
This visit marks the first high-level engagement between American and French officials since U.S. Vice President JD Vance attended an artificial intelligence summit in Paris in February.
