Two people were killed and five others injured in a shooting on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, local police reported on Thursday.
According to authorities, the victims who died were not students at the university. The five injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
The suspected shooter, believed to be an enrolled student, was also taken to the hospital. Law enforcement has not yet released the suspect’s identity or motive, but an investigation is underway.
The campus was placed on lockdown shortly after the incident, and emergency protocols were activated.
Florida State University issued a statement expressing condolences to the victims and their families and noted that counseling services would be available for students and staff.
