Russia Strikes Kharkiv with Ballistic Missiles Armed with Cluster Munitions; Casualties Mount

A Russian missile strike on Kharkiv has resulted in the death of one person and injuries to at least 54 others, including a child, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. The attack, believed to have been carried out using ballistic missiles equipped with cluster munitions, caused extensive damage to residential areas, with at least 20 apartment buildings and 30 houses reported damaged.

Cluster munitions are controversial weapons that release multiple smaller submunitions over a wide area, posing significant risks to civilians, especially in densely populated regions. Their use has been widely condemned by international organizations due to the indiscriminate harm they can cause.

This incident adds to the growing list of attacks on Ukrainian cities amid ongoing tensions and conflict in the region. Kharkiv, located in northeastern Ukraine, has been a frequent target of missile and drone attacks since the escalation of hostilities.

Ukrainian officials continue to call for increased international support and condemnation of such attacks, emphasizing the need for enhanced defense capabilities to protect civilian population.
