Chinese Scholars Advocate Peaceful Resolution in South China Sea Dispute

Chinese maritime scholars have recently emphasized the importance of compromise and restraint in addressing the ongoing disputes in the South China Sea. At a forum held in Manila, four experts highlighted that while China maintains its territorial claims, it is equally committed to avoiding conflict and managing disputes through peaceful means.

The scholars criticized the use of “megaphone diplomacy” and underscored the need for direct dialogue between the involved parties. They advocated for negotiations and consultations as the most effective methods to resolve the complex issues surrounding the South China Sea.

This perspective aligns with China’s longstanding policy of seeking peaceful settlements through bilateral discussions. The Chinese government has consistently expressed its commitment to resolving disputes in the South China Sea via negotiations and consultations with the directly concerned parties.

The South China Sea remains a region of strategic importance and has been a focal point of territorial disputes involving multiple countries. Efforts to promote dialogue and peaceful resolution are seen as crucial steps toward maintaining stability and preventing escalation in the region.
