U.S. Army Parade Plans for President Trump’s 79th Birthday

The U.S. Army is considering a large-scale military parade on June 14, 2025, to commemorate both its 250th anniversary and the 79th birthday of President Donald Trump.

According to planning documents obtained by the Associated Press, the proposed event would feature over 6,600 soldiers, 150 military vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven Army bands, and a parachute demonstration by the Golden Knights. Additionally, up to 2,000 civilians, including veterans groups and reenactors, may participate.

The parade is still pending formal approval and is subject to change. Army spokesman Steve Warren stated that no final decisions have been made. The event would likely be designated as a National Special Security Event, requiring extensive coordination among federal and local agencies.

Concerns have been raised regarding the potential damage to infrastructure from heavy military vehicles. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has expressed reservations, noting that tanks rolling through city streets could cause significant road damage.

The proposed parade aligns with Trump’s longstanding interest in showcasing military strength, reminiscent of his previous, but ultimately canceled, plans for a similar event in 2018 due to high costs and logistical challenges.
