Recent research published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology suggests that moderate consumption of champagne and white wine may be associated with a reduced risk of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
The study analyzed data from over 500,000 participants in the UK Biobank and identified 56 modifiable risk factors for SCA. Findings indicate that lifestyle changes, including increased fruit intake, maintaining a healthy weight, and positive mood, could potentially prevent up to 63% of SCA cases.
Notably, the study challenges the traditional belief that only red wine offers cardioprotective benefits, highlighting that white wine and champagne may also contribute to heart health. However, researchers emphasize the importance of moderation and caution that excessive alcohol consumption can have adverse health effects.
While these findings are promising, further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms and to confirm the associations across diverse populations.
