Rising Tensions in Kashmir: Dozens Killed in Cross-Border Strikes Between India and Pakistan

Violence continues to escalate along the India-Pakistan border in the disputed Kashmir region, as both nations report significant casualties following a series of military strikes and counterstrikes.

According to Indian authorities, a Pakistani airstrike targeting the Indian-administered side of Kashmir killed 10 people and injured 48 others. Local police reported that the attack struck civilian areas, prompting an immediate military response from India.

In retaliation, Indian forces launched artillery and air assaults on multiple targets across the Line of Control. Pakistan’s army confirmed that 26 civilians were killed and 46 others wounded as a result of these Indian strikes since hostilities flared overnight. Pakistani officials condemned the attacks, claiming they were directed at non-military areas and constitute a violation of international law.

The recent outbreak of violence follows a deadly terror attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir, which left 25 tourists dead. India blamed Pakistan-based militants for the bombing and launched Operation “Sindur,” a military campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure across the border.

As the death toll rises on both sides, fears are growing of a wider conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations. International observers and the United Nations have called for immediate de-escalation and urged both governments to return to dialogue before the situation spirals out of control.
