A shooting at the Las Vegas Athletic Club on the city’s west side left two people dead and at least three others injured on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time when an armed man entered the gym and opened fire.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, one victim was killed at the scene while three others were transported to local hospitals, one of them in critical condition. The suspected shooter attempted to flee the building but was shot by responding officers and later died in the hospital. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with people screaming and taking cover.
One gymgoer reported hearing shouts to evacuate before seeing a body near the cardio machines. Police say the shooting does not appear to be part of a larger mass attack and confirmed that there is no continuing threat to the public. The motive remains under investigation.
