Former President Joe Biden made his first public appearance since announcing his diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer. He attended his grandson Robert Hunter Biden II’s high school graduation at the Salisbury School in Connecticut, accompanied by his wife, former First Lady Jill Biden.
Upon arrival at Bradley International Airport, Biden was greeted by well-wishers. He appeared composed and in good spirits, expressing gratitude for the support he has received. Jill Biden shared a video from the event on social media, captioned, “Thank you for the warm welcome”.
On May 18, Biden’s office announced that the 82-year-old had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), with metastasis to the bone. Despite the advanced stage, the cancer is hormone-sensitive, allowing for potential treatment options.
In a message shared on social media, Biden stated, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support”.
Biden’s health has been a topic of discussion, especially following his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race amid concerns about his cognitive abilities. A recent book, “Original Sin” by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, alleges that Biden’s inner circle attempted to conceal signs of his decline during his presidency.
Despite these challenges, Biden’s recent appearance demonstrates his resilience and commitment to family. The Biden family is currently evaluating treatment options, and further updates are expected in the coming weeks.
