Trump Condemns Putin’s Massive Strikes on Ukraine: “He’s Gone Absolutely Crazy”

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued his strongest rebuke yet of Russian President Vladimir Putin following Russia’s largest aerial assault on Ukraine since the war began. The overnight attack involved 367 drones and missiles, targeting multiple Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, and resulted in at least 12 civilian deaths and dozens of injuries.

Speaking to reporters in Morristown, New Jersey, on Sunday, Trump expressed his dismay:

“I’m not happy with Putin. I don’t know what’s wrong with him. What the hell happened to him? He’s killing a lot of people.”

Later, on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump intensified his criticism, stating:

“He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people… I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!”

Trump also indicated that he is “absolutely” considering imposing additional sanctions on Russia in response to the ongoing attacks.

In addition to criticizing Putin, Trump took aim at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, suggesting that Zelenskyy’s rhetoric is exacerbating tensions:

“Zelenskyy is doing his country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop.”

The recent escalation comes amid ongoing efforts to negotiate a ceasefire. Trump and Putin reportedly held a two-hour phone call last week to discuss a U.S.-proposed ceasefire deal. While Ukraine has publicly agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, Russia has only expressed willingness to work on a “memorandum” regarding a possible future peace, which Kyiv and its European allies have described as a delaying tactic.
