Trump Demands Harvard Hand Over Foreign Student List: “31% Is Too Much”

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Harvard University to release the names and countries of its international students, citing transparency concerns and questioning the percentage of foreign enrollment at the Ivy League institution.

“Why isn’t Harvard saying that almost 31% of their students are from foreign lands, and yet those countries, some not at all friendly to the United States, pay NOTHING toward their student’s education, nor do they ever intend to. Nobody told us that!” Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social.

In a follow-up message, Trump added:
“We want to know who those foreign students are, a reasonable request since we give Harvard BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, but Harvard isn’t exactly forthcoming. We want those names and countries.”

According to The Independent, the Trump administration has made efforts to suspend Harvard’s certification to enroll foreign students, citing non-cooperation and alleged antisemitic incidents on campus.

Harvard, in response, has defended the presence of international students, stating they are integral to the university’s global mission and contribute significantly to academic and cultural life. The university also confirmed it is engaged in legal proceedings to challenge any federal action that would limit foreign student enrollment.

A federal judge has reportedly issued a temporary restraining order blocking the administration’s attempt to revoke Harvard’s authorization to host international students.
