Pastor Mark Burns Condemns Russian Attacks on Kyiv as War Crimes

On May 25, 2025, Pastor Mark Burns, a prominent evangelical leader and spiritual advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, publicly condemned Russia’s recent missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, labeling them as war crimes.

In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Burns stated:

“The ongoing attacks on Kiev by Russian forces represent a blatant violation of international law and constitute war crimes, as they deliberately target civilian areas and infrastructure.”

Burns emphasized the severe impact on innocent civilians and called for decisive action from the international community to hold those responsible accountable. His statement marks a significant stance from a figure closely associated with Trump, especially given Burns’ previous skepticism regarding U.S. military aid to Ukraine.

The pastor’s remarks come in the wake of intensified Russian assaults on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, resulting in numerous casualties and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure. Burns’ condemnation aligns with growing international criticism of Russia’s actions and underscores the evolving perspectives within U.S. political and religious circles concerning the conflict in Ukraine.
