New Book Claims Buckingham Palace Has Funeral Plan Ready for Princess Kate

Buckingham Palace has reportedly developed a contingency plan, codenamed “Operation Reading Bridge,” outlining protocols in the event of the death of Catherine, Princess of Wales. This plan, named after her hometown of Reading, was reportedly chosen by Prince William, highlighting the personal connection.

The existence of “Operation Reading Bridge” was revealed by royal commentator Bertrand Deckers in his upcoming book, “Kate – The Day When…,” scheduled for release on June 11. The plan is part of the royal family’s standard protocol to prepare for various eventualities concerning senior members.

While specific details of the plan remain confidential, it is expected to include procedures for public announcements, national mourning, and funeral arrangements, similar to previous operations for other royal family members.

Princess Kate announced in January 2025 that she is in remission following a cancer diagnosis in March 2024. She has since resumed public engagements, including attending the Buckingham Palace garden party in May 2025.
