Elon Musk has deleted a contentious post on his social media platform, X, in which he accused President Donald Trump of being implicated in the confidential files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The now-removed post was part of an escalating public dispute between the two figures, stemming from disagreements over a proposed tax and spending bill.
In the deleted message, Musk wrote: “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
The accusation intensified tensions between Musk and Trump, who had previously maintained a cooperative relationship. The feud began after Musk publicly criticized the administration’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” describing it as a “disgusting abomination.” In response, Trump threatened to revoke federal contracts and subsidies for Musk’s companies.
Following the deletion of the post, Musk appeared to adopt a more conciliatory tone. He responded to a video clip of Trump stating, “I just wish him well,” with the reply, “Likewise.”
The public fallout has had significant financial implications. Tesla’s stock experienced a substantial decline, with a reported $150 billion drop in market value.
