Israel carried out airstrikes targeting two centrifuge manufacturing facilities near Tehran, aiming to disrupt Iran’s uranium enrichment capabilities, according to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and multiple news outlets .
The IAEA confirmed the strikes damaged critical production capacity for centrifuges—essential machinery for uranium enrichment—though Iran’s Fordow underground enrichment site remained largely intact.
Satellite imagery analyzed by the IAEA revealed direct hits on the underground halls at Natanz, disrupting power supply lines and centrifuge operations despite earlier assessments which noted only above-ground damage. The agency also reported that the Isfahan conversion facility suffered significant structural damage.
Analysts warn that while the strikes clearly hinder centrifuge output—impacting both nuclear energy and weapons programs—the underground Fordow site showed limited damage. Experts suggest destroying deeply buried installations may require capabilities beyond Israel’s current arsenal.
