The U.S. State Department has confirmed the death of an American citizen in the West Bank. The individual was reportedly a resident of the Ramallah area. According to initial reports, he died after allegedly being beaten during a clash near the village of Sinjil.
A State Department spokesperson told Ynet that protecting U.S. citizens overseas remains a top priority and that consular assistance is being provided to the family. No further details were given, citing respect for the family’s privacy.
On Friday, July 11, reports emerged that the Israel Defense Forces were investigating the death of a Palestinian man with U.S. citizenship during violent incidents in Sinjil. Palestinian sources claimed the 23-year-old was attacked by settlers.
The IDF spokesperson stated: “Earlier today (Friday), terrorists threw stones at Israeli civilians in the Sinjil area. As a result, two Israelis sustained minor injuries. Shortly after, a violent confrontation occurred between Palestinians and Israeli civilians, including vandalism against Palestinian property, arson, physical violence, and stone-throwing.”
The statement continued: “We are aware of reports of a Palestinian civilian killed and several others injured as a result of the confrontation.”
