Ukrainian boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk successfully defended his status as the undisputed heavyweight champion on Saturday night, stopping Britain’s Daniel Dubois with a commanding fifth-round knockout at Wembley Stadium.
The victory marks another dominant performance for Usyk, who retains the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles — reinforcing his position as the top fighter in boxing’s most prestigious division.
Fifth-Round KO Ends the Rivalry
Usyk ended the bout at 1:52 in the fifth round with a clean left hook that sent Dubois to the canvas. It was the second knockdown of the night and sealed the outcome in front of a sold-out Wembley crowd.
Usyk, 38, showcased technical precision and superior footwork, dictating the fight from the outset and neutralizing Dubois’ offense throughout.
“The better man won tonight,” Dubois said post-fight, offering brief praise for Usyk’s dominance in the ring.
This fight was a rematch of their first meeting in 2023, where Usyk also came out on top with a stoppage win in Poland.
Historic Reign Continues
With the win, Usyk remains undefeated (24–0, 15 KOs) and continues his reign as the undisputed heavyweight champion — a status he first achieved in May 2024 after defeating Tyson Fury in a split decision.
He also remains the only male boxer in the four-belt era to become undisputed champion in two different weight classes — cruiserweight and heavyweight — and to defend that title successfully.
Promoters and sports analysts have called the achievement a landmark moment in modern boxing history.
Next Challenge on the Horizon
The WBO is expected to mandate a title defense against interim champion Joseph Parker. Parker, who was present at Wembley, is likely to face Usyk later this year if a voluntary fight is not arranged first.
Meanwhile, former opponents including Tyson Fury have hinted at potential trilogies. Fury, who was defeated by Usyk in 2024, reacted online, suggesting he’s ready to return to the ring.
Highlights from the Boxing World
Promoter Frank Warren called Usyk “a living legend” in post-fight comments.
Jake Paul made a surprise appearance in the ring after the fight, proposing a crossover bout. His offer was largely dismissed by the boxing establishment.
Fans and analysts praised Usyk’s efficiency and control, with many calling the performance one of his most clinical to date.
