President Donald Trump, in an interview with NBC, emphasized the need to ensure that Gaza residents are actually receiving food amid a worsening humanitarian crisis. He stated that the United States plans to open special food distribution centers in cooperation with European partners but placed responsibility for the distribution of aid on Israel.
Trump also expressed skepticism regarding Prime Minister Netanyahu’s claim that there is no hunger in Gaza: “On television… those children look very hungry.”
At the same time, the president has sent U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to visit Gaza and Israel to personally assess the effectiveness of humanitarian deliveries and to develop a plan to expand food distribution.
