A Texas woman who was reported missing by her family has been discovered living with a self-styled “African tribe” in a forest in Scotland.
The woman, identified as Kaura Taylor, was located in Jedburgh, about 65 kilometers south of Edinburgh, within a community that calls itself the Kingdom of Kubala. According to British media group SWNS, the group claims to be reclaiming land allegedly taken from their ancestors.
The community is led by 36-year-old King Atechene, who was previously an opera singer performing under the name Kofi Offe, along with his wife, Queen Nandi. Taylor, now serving as their handmaiden and going by the name Asnat, appeared in a video statement released by the group.
“From the perspective of British authorities, I am not missing,” she declared in the recording. “Leave me alone. I am an adult, not a helpless child.”
It remains unclear when Taylor disappeared or why her family was unaware of her whereabouts until recently.
