According to an OpenAI study based on an analysis of 1.5 million user chat logs and registration data, the majority of interactions with ChatGPT are personal rather than professional, as reported by The Washington Post.
The analysis showed that roughly 73% of all conversations in ChatGPT since June 2025 were related to personal questions. Of these, 28.3% of dialogues were for practical advice, 28.1% for content creation, and 21.3% for information retrieval. Researchers also noted that conversations about personal relationships were found in 1.9% of chats.
The user base of ChatGPT is predominantly composed of women and younger people, with almost half of all dialogues initiated by individuals aged 18 to 25. Interestingly, the chatbot is used more actively in poorer countries than in wealthier ones.
To conduct the analysis, OpenAI utilized its own AI technologies, which allowed the team to study the content of the chats without compromising user privacy. Experts note that this research reflects not only the usage trends of ChatGPT but also the growing role of generative artificial intelligence in everyday life.
