Federal Judge Karin Immergut has temporarily blocked US President Donald Trump from sending troops to Portland. The order will be in effect until at least October 18.
According to the court’s ruling, authorities have no evidence that recent protests escalated into a riot or seriously interfered with police operations.
On September 27, Donald Trump ordered the deployment of troops to Portland, Oregon, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities across the US.
He authorized the use of “full force” if necessary. Previously, the American leader also ordered the deployment of troops to Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Memphis amid protests against raids and the expulsion of migrants.
