Apple is expecting major personnel changes, including the departure of CEO Tim Cook.
According to Bloomberg, John Ternus, head of hardware engineering, is being considered as his possible successor.
“For a company of its size, Apple Inc. has managed to maintain a remarkably stable leadership team over the past decade. However, there have been notable departures, including chief designer Jony Ive and retail chief Angela Ahrendts in 2019. But CEO Tim Cook has largely convinced key executives to postpone their retirement,” the report said.
It is expected that after stepping down, Cook, who turns 65 next month, will continue to work for the company, likely as chairman of the board of directors.
“The main question is who will run Apple on a permanent basis. In an emergency, new COO Sabih Khan and retail chief Deirdre O’Brien would certainly be up to the task. But in terms of a formal CEO succession, hardware chief John Ternus remains the leading contender,” the publication noted.
