Trump Reinstates High-Pressure Showerheads, Citing Personal Comfort

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has reinstated a policy allowing stronger water pressure in showerheads, reversing restrictions introduced under previous administrations. The Obama-era rule limited water flow to 2.5 gallons (9.5 liters) per minute per showerhead. Trump’s revised policy permits multiple nozzles to each operate at the maximum flow rate.

Speaking on the change, Trump said, “You take a shower, the water doesn’t come out. You want to wash your hands, the water doesn’t come out. So what do you do? You just stand there longer, or you take a shower for much longer. I want a strong flow for my hair.”

The updated regulation allows manufacturers to increase water output in new showerhead designs, aligning with Trump’s broader efforts to roll back federal efficiency standards.

Environmental groups have expressed concern about potential increases in water usage. The revised rule has been formally published and is now in effect.
