The United States and Ukraine have signed a draft agreement that would give Washington access to Ukraine’s valuable mineral resources, marking a key step in strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations.
According to Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the two countries finalized a memorandum of understanding that paves the way for a broader economic partnership and the creation of an investment fund to support Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of a memorandum of intent with our American partners, which lays the foundation for an economic partnership agreement and the establishment of a reconstruction investment fund,” Svyrydenko said.
The agreement focuses on rare and strategic minerals located in Ukrainian territory, which are essential for advanced technologies, defense industries, and clean energy production. As global demand for critical raw materials grows, the deal is expected to deepen strategic ties and enhance supply chain resilience.
Further negotiations are expected to formalize the terms of the partnership in the coming months.
