Bobby Sherman, Teen Idol of the ’60s and ’70s, Dies at 81

Bobby Sherman, the charismatic teen idol who rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s through his music and television appearances, passed away on June 24, 2025, at his home in Los Angeles. He was 81 years old.

Sherman’s death followed a brief but fierce battle with Stage 4 cancer, which his wife, Brigitte Poublon, confirmed back in March. No specific type of cancer was released, though family statements noted how quickly the illness progressed in recent months.

As Brigitte and actor John Stamos shared, Sherman died peacefully with family and his beloved dogs by his side. In a heartfelt message, Brigitte recalled how he spent his final days reading fan letters, joking with loved ones, and facing his illness with courage and grace.

Sherman first entered the public’s eye on ABC’s “Shindig!” before gaining widespread fame as Jeremy Bolt on the series “Here Come the Brides” (1968–1970). As a singer, he achieved several Billboard Top 10 hits—most notably “Little Woman,” “Julie, Do Ya Love Me,” “Easy Come, Easy Go,” and “La La La (If I Had You)”—earning multiple gold and platinum records.

Following his entertainment career, Sherman dedicated himself to public service. He became an EMT, served as a technical reserve officer with the LAPD—being named Reserve Officer of the Year in 1999—and worked as a reserve deputy sheriff in San Bernardino County. He was also a co-founder of the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation, supporting children’s education and health in Ghana.

Sherman is survived by his wife Brigitte, two sons (Christopher and Tyler), and six grandchildren.

Bobby Sherman’s legacy transcends his success as a teen idol; he became a powerful example of reinvention and service. From topping charts and starring in TV shows to saving lives and helping underprivileged communities, his journey reflected both talent and compassion. Today, fans remember not only his songs and performances but also his quiet heroism and enduring kindness.
