Morten Harket Reveals Parkinson’s Diagnosis, Urges Fans Not to Worry

Morten Harket, the 65-year-old lead singer of the Norwegian band A-ha, has publicly revealed his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease. The announcement was shared on A-ha’s official website through a post written by the band’s biographer, Jan Omdahl.

Harket disclosed that he had undergone two advanced brain surgeries at the Mayo Clinic in June and December 2024 to manage symptoms. These procedures involved implanting electrodes inside his brain to help alleviate his symptoms.

Despite the surgeries, Harket noted that the disease has impacted both his body and voice, creating uncertainty about his future as a singer. He expressed a philosophical approach to his condition, emphasizing acceptance and a desire for peace.

Harket’s diagnosis had previously only been known to a few members of his immediate circle. He stated that he wanted to reveal his condition but kept it private to focus on managing the disease and its side effects.

The singer encouraged fans not to worry about him, advising them to focus on personal growth and environmental care. He emphasized that he is receiving professional care and is being taken care of during this difficult time.
