Eurovision 2025: 10 Countries Qualify from Second Semi-Final in Basel

The second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 took place on May 15 at the St. Jakobshalle arena in Basel, Switzerland, bringing a night of music, spectacle, and fierce competition. Sixteen countries performed in hopes of securing one of ten coveted spots in the grand final, set to take place on May 17.

The evening featured a diverse lineup of performances, ranging from powerful ballads and high-energy pop to experimental sounds and cultural tributes. With voting based solely on public televotes, tension ran high until the final announcement of results.

After the live performances and voting window closed, the following ten countries were announced as qualifiers for the grand final:

– Armenia
– Austria
– Belgium
– Estonia
– Georgia
– Israel
– Latvia
– Netherlands
– Norway
– Switzerland

These countries now join the ten finalists from the first semi-final, along with the so-called “Big Five” (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom) and host country Switzerland, which was pre-qualified as both a Big Five member and this year’s host nation.

Israel’s performance by Eden Golan with the song “Hurricane” stood out for its emotional delivery and impressive staging. The moment she qualified was met with thunderous applause both in the arena and online, especially given the geopolitical attention surrounding the entry.

The show also featured an energetic interval act and a tribute to Eurovision legends of the past. St. Jakobshalle, transformed into a dazzling arena of lights and sound, once again proved itself as a worthy host for one of Europe’s biggest television events.

As the grand final approaches, anticipation continues to grow. Fans around the world will now turn their attention to May 17, when 26 countries will compete for the Eurovision 2025 trophy and the chance to host the contest next year.
