Boulder Attack Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder and Hate Crimes

On June 5, 2025, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, a 45-year-old Egyptian national residing in Colorado Springs, was formally charged with 118 criminal counts in connection with a violent attack on pro-Israel demonstrators in Boulder, Colorado. The charges include 28 counts of attempted first-degree murder, assault, use of incendiary devices, and a federal hate crime.

The incident occurred on June 1 during a peaceful march organized by “Run for Their Lives,” a group advocating for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. Soliman allegedly used a makeshift flamethrower and Molotov cocktails to attack participants, injuring 15 individuals aged between 25 and 88, and a dog. Three victims remain hospitalized.

According to court documents, Soliman shouted “Free Palestine” during the assault and later told investigators he intended to kill all “Zionist people,” expressing no remorse and stating he would commit the act again.

Soliman, who entered the U.S. on a tourist visa in 2022 that expired in early 2023, had applied for asylum and was granted a work permit, which also expired. He is currently held on a $10 million bond, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 15.

In response to the attack, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Soliman’s wife and five children, who were living in the U.S. illegally. A federal judge has temporarily blocked their deportation pending further investigation.
