European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stated that the European Union is ready to play a role in the Gaza peace proposal unveiled at the White House by President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter), von der Leyen welcomed Trump’s commitment to ending the war in Gaza and urged all parties to seize what she described as a crucial opportunity for peace.
She emphasized that any agreement must include the release of all hostages and immediate humanitarian assistance for civilians in Gaza.
Von der Leyen also reiterated that a two-state solution remains the only viable path to lasting peace in the Middle East, envisioning Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in security, free from violence and terrorism.
