A REACH Air Medical helicopter crashed near Sacramento after taking off from the University Medical Centre in Davis.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred on the motorway as the helicopter was flying over the road, causing significant traffic disruption.
There were three people on board the helicopter.
Firefighters and ambulance services who arrived at the scene reported that the victims were alive and received first aid at the crash site. However, the injuries were very serious, so all the victims were rushed to the nearest medical facilities.
The helicopter, which was providing air medical assistance, was identified as N414RX.
The causes of the helicopter crash are currently being investigated. Local aviation and rescue services are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident and prevent similar incidents in the future.
