Scientists studied the impact of modern technologies on the human body and predicted how it might change by 2100. To visualize these changes, they developed the 3D model of the future human, named “Mindy.”
According to the experts, future humans may develop a hunched back due to prolonged computer use and constant smartphone usage. To compensate for the strain, the neck muscles are expected to become stronger, and the skull thicker to protect against radiation. At the same time, researchers suggest that the brain could shrink as a result of a more sedentary lifestyle.
The scientists paid special attention to the hands of the future human. In the model, the fingers appear more curved, almost claw-like, reflecting the large amount of time spent holding devices. Additionally, an extra eyelid could develop to protect the eyes from harmful radiation.
Jason O’Brien, the head of the study, described these changes as a “compromise” accompanying the widespread use of technology. Experts emphasize that such a future will largely depend on how well humanity maintains a balance between innovation and a healthy lifestyle.
The “Mindy” model was created using data on current habits and physiological changes caused by technological progress and aims to demonstrate the potential effects of the digital age on the human body.
