A shooting occurred at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Dallas on Wednesday, September 24. The attacker killed one person and wounded two others before taking his own life, officials reported.
“While the investigation is ongoing, preliminary analysis of the evidence indicates an ideologically motivated attack behind this incident,” wrote FBI Director Cash Patel.
Authorities are treating the attack as an “act of targeted violence,” Joseph Rothrock, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas field office, told reporters.
Police stated the shooter opened fire on the office from a nearby building around 6:40 AM local time (11:40 AM GMT). Two individuals were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds, and a third person died at the scene.
No law enforcement personnel were injured in the shooting.
