US President Donald Trump said on Fox News’ Hannity programme that Hamas hostages will be released on 13 October.
‘They [the hostages] are in a terrible situation there. They are deep, deep underground. As we speak, so much is being done to free the hostages… We think they will all be back on Monday… including the bodies of those who have died,’ Trump said.
He also said that Middle Eastern countries would help rebuild Gaza, but did not specify which countries.
“We believe that Gaza will become a much safer place, and it will be rebuilt, and other countries in the region will help it rebuild because they have tremendous wealth and they want that to happen. We will help them succeed and support peace,” the US president said.
In addition, Trump told Channel 12 that he would likely visit Israel in the coming days and deliver a speech to the Knesset after reaching an agreement on the release of hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza.
‘They want me to speak at the Knesset, and I will definitely do so if they want me to. This is a great day for Israel and for the whole world,’ the American president said.
Earlier, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of the United States’ peace plan.
