U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that a full and final ceasefire agreement has been reached between Iran and Israel. According to his statement, the ceasefire will officially begin within six hours, allowing both nations to conclude their ongoing military operations.
Trump specified that Iran would observe the ceasefire first, with Israel joining after 12 hours. By the end of a 24-hour period, the conflict — which he described as a “12-day war” — will be officially declared over.
“During the ceasefire, both sides will maintain peaceful and respectful behavior,” Trump wrote. “Assuming everything goes according to plan — and it will — I want to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, for showing strength, courage, and wisdom.”
Trump emphasized that the agreement averted a war that could have lasted for years and potentially destroyed the Middle East. “That did not happen — and it never will,” he added.
Calling it a major diplomatic achievement, Trump praised the parties involved and concluded his statement with a message of unity and hope:
“God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and God bless peace!”
The announcement has yet to be officially confirmed by either Tehran or Jerusalem. However, if implemented, the ceasefire would mark one of the most significant breakthroughs in the region in recent years, potentially opening the door to broader negotiations and long-term stabilization.
