A federal judge has blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for approximately 60,000 migrants from Honduras, Nicaragua, and Nepal. TPS allows foreign nationals to legally reside and work in the United States if their home countries are deemed unsafe.
Trump sought to terminate the program as part of his broader immigration policy aimed at mass deportations. However, the court ruled that the protections for these groups of migrants will remain in place at least until the legal proceedings are resolved.
Legal experts note that this decision could delay the administration’s efforts and set a precedent for similar cases involving other countries whose citizens currently benefit from TPS in the United States.
