U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, are scheduled to visit Paris later this week to engage in discussions concerning Ukraine, Iran, and trade relations. According to sources familiar with the trip’s preparations, Witkoff is expected to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, while Rubio will hold talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
The meetings are anticipated to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, particularly in light of Witkoff’s recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a potential ceasefire. Additionally, the agenda includes deliberations on Iran and trade matters, especially following President Trump’s recent tariff threats.
This visit marks the first high-level engagement between American and French officials since U.S. Vice President JD Vance attended an artificial intelligence summit in Paris in February.
