Dan Caldwell, a senior advisor to U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, was placed on administrative leave on April 15, 2025, following an internal investigation into unauthorized information leaks.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Caldwell was part of a private Signal group chat in which sensitive military plans were discussed, including operations involving strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen. The group came under scrutiny after a journalist was accidentally added to the chat.
The Pentagon has not officially commented on the situation. However, Darin Selnick, deputy chief of staff to the Secretary of Defense, was also placed on leave as part of the same inquiry.
Both individuals have had their access to classified material suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
