Cambodia and Thailand have reached an agreement on an immediate ceasefire, following direct mediation by U.S. President Donald Trump. The news was announced on July 27 by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
According to the Prime Minister, President Trump expressed deep concern over the rising casualties caused by the conflict and reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful resolution.
“President Trump does not want to see any further military action or war that could result in more deaths and injuries on both sides,” Hun Manet stated in a message shared on social media.
Tensions between the two Southeast Asian nations had escalated in recent days, drawing regional and international concern. Thanks to U.S. diplomatic intervention, the situation now appears to be moving toward de-escalation.
