President Donald Trump has emphatically denied initiating any communication with Iran regarding peace negotiations between Israel and Iran, refuting reports suggesting otherwise. In a post on his platform Truth Social, Trump stated he has not reached out to Iran “in any way, shape, or form” and dismissed such claims as “HIGHLY FABRICATED, FAKE NEWS,” reiterating his firm stance on Iran abandoning its nuclear arsenal .
Reports earlier in June indicated that French President Emmanuel Macron had suggested Trump proposed a ceasefire initiative during the G7 summit in Canada. Trump responded via Truth Social saying he left the summit early for reasons “much bigger than that,” and clarified that any mention of ceasefire discussions was inaccurate.
Despite the denial, Trump reaffirmed his position that Iran “should have taken the deal that was on the table” — referring to previous nuclear negotiations. He urged Iran to fully relinquish its nuclear weapons aspiration and warned Tehran’s leaders that if they wished to engage, “they know how to reach me”.
