Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump during the Pope’s funeral at the Vatican was “perhaps the best” they have had so far. He made the remarks while speaking to reporters about the possibility of a ceasefire with Russia.
According to Zelensky, both leaders agreed that a 30-day ceasefire would be the right first step. He also raised the issue of air defense systems, to which Trump reportedly responded, “I’ll work on it.”
Zelensky noted that since the meeting at the Vatican, Trump “sees things a bit differently.” He added that the U.S. President “does not want to play games” when it comes to Putin’s proposals for short-term ceasefires.
