12 Injured in Overnight Drone Strike on Kharkiv, Including Children

On the night of June 12, the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv was targeted in a large-scale drone attack. According to official sources, including Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the regional military administration, 12 civilians were injured — among them children as young as two years old.

The strikes hit multiple neighborhoods, including Shevchenkivskyi, Saltivskyi, and Slobidskyi districts. Residential buildings, commercial facilities, and infrastructure sustained damage. A fire spanning approximately 200 square meters broke out in one area, while a residential building in Saltivka suffered roof damage. Several vehicles were also destroyed.

Ukrainian officials report that Shahed-type drones were used in the attack and at least 12 impacts were recorded throughout the night. Emergency response teams, firefighters, and local police were deployed to contain fires and evacuate the wounded, who were all hospitalized. As of Wednesday morning, no fatalities had been reported.

Kharkiv, located just 30 kilometers from the Russian border, has frequently been targeted since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.

Israeli officials have repeatedly condemned attacks on civilian populations and expressed support for Ukraine’s sovereignty. Local authorities in Kharkiv have once again urged residents to follow safety protocols and respond promptly to air raid alerts.
