Pierre Poilievre, leader of Canada’s Conservative Party, stated on April 12, 2025, that if he becomes Prime Minister, his government will deport foreign nationals who participate in pro-Palestinian protests that he described as antisemitic.
His remarks were made during a public campaign appearance amid a wave of demonstrations in Canadian cities, including Montreal and Toronto.
Poilievre said that non-citizens involved in such protests would be removed from the country and barred from returning.
He also called on the government to take stronger action against hate speech and to investigate the sources of funding for such demonstrations.
The statement follows continued protests related to the war in Gaza and recent debates in Canada over the boundaries of free expression.
