Helicopter Carrying Putin Flew Through Ukrainian Drone Strike, Russia Says

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s helicopter was reportedly at the center of a Ukrainian drone assault during his visit to the Kursk region on May 20, according to statements from Russian military officials.

Yuri Dashkin, commander of the air defense division in Kursk Oblast, stated that during President Putin’s flight over the region, Ukrainian forces launched an “unprecedented attack” involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Dashkin noted that air defense units engaged in combat operations to repel the drone attack while simultaneously ensuring the safety of the presidential helicopter.

Russian air defense systems reportedly shot down 46 drones during the incident.

The Kremlin has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. Ukrainian officials have also not commented on the reports.
