Iran has formally reached out to Oman and Qatar, requesting that both countries serve as intermediaries in talks with the United States in an effort to stop the ongoing Israeli military attacks.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi addressed foreign diplomats in Tehran, stating:
“We are not interested in expanding the war across the region — if the aggression stops, our response will stop as well.”
He added:
“I hope the international community will pay sufficient attention to the issue of Iran and stand up to and confront Israeli aggression, and this is the best way to create peace in the region.”
The move signals a shift in tone from Tehran, which has so far maintained a posture of direct confrontation with Israel. Iran’s appeal to Gulf nations with diplomatic access to Washington suggests an attempt to avoid broader escalation and seek a negotiated de-escalation channel.
No official response has yet been issued by the U.S. or Israeli leadership.
