Iran Threatens Trump With Leaked Emails From His Inner Circle

A hacker group linked to the Iranian regime claims it has obtained 100 gigabytes of confidential emails from close associates of U.S. President Donald Trump. Among the individuals named are Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, legal advisor Lindsey Halligan, activist Roger Stone, and adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who previously alleged a personal relationship with Trump.

The hackers, operating under the alias ‘Robert’, stated they are considering selling the stolen material but did not specify to whom or under what conditions. The same group was behind a similar breach last year, targeting Trump’s campaign and leaking documents to Biden’s team and major U.S. media outlets. That operation was widely seen as an attempt by Iran to influence the presidential election.

The current threat comes amid renewed U.S.–Iran tensions following a U.S. airstrike on Iranian soil ordered by President Trump. American officials believe the hackers may have direct ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The White House and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) quickly condemned the hackers’ actions. CISA spokesperson Marci McCarthy described the publication as ‘coordinated digital propaganda aimed at discrediting the president,’ vowing that the perpetrators would be identified and prosecuted.

The group, also known as APT42 or Charming Kitten, has previously conducted targeted cyberattacks on Western political figures. Past operations included spyware deployment on mobile phones and theft of sensitive emails from former senior U.S. intelligence and diplomatic officials, including a former CIA deputy director and a U.S. ambassador to Israel.
