Russia Hits Kremenchuk with Major Missile Barrage: 40 Explosions Reported

Russian forces launched a large-scale missile and drone assault on the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk overnight, with Ukrainian officials reporting approximately 40 explosions. The attack caused significant damage to energy and agricultural infrastructure and injured at least one person.

According to the head of the Poltava regional administration, Volodymyr Khotko, Russian missiles struck energy facilities, grain storage sites, and other critical civilian infrastructure. Emergency services responded to multiple fire outbreaks and widespread destruction caused by missile fragments and secondary explosions.

Kremenchuk was one of several cities targeted during the latest coordinated Russian operation, which involved Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles reportedly launched from MiG-31K aircraft. Ukrainian air defense systems intercepted several threats, but numerous missiles reached their targets.

One civilian was reported moderately injured. No fatalities have been confirmed at this time. The full scale of the damage is still being assessed, but authorities have confirmed disruptions to the power grid and visible destruction across several districts of the city.

The strike is part of a broader escalation by Russian forces targeting Ukraine’s infrastructure and logistics hubs. The overnight barrage affected multiple regions across Ukraine, but Kremenchuk was among the hardest hit.

Ukrainian authorities urged residents to remain in shelters and avoid damaged areas. Restoration crews have begun clearing debris and working to restore critical services.

Kremenchuk, located in the Poltava region, has strategic importance due to its location along the Dnipro River and proximity to major transportation routes.
