Caught with a Lighter, Arrested After Pursuit: Jerusalem District Police Officers Apprehend Suspect Attempting to Ignite Fire in Open Field
A short while ago, officers from the Jerusalem District arrested a resident of East Jerusalem who was caught in the act of attempting to set fire to a field in the southern part of the city.
The arrest followed a report received at the police emergency center from a citizen who observed the suspect trying to ignite vegetation in the area.
Police from the Oz Station were immediately dispatched and quickly located the suspect. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect attempted to flee. After a short pursuit, he was apprehended.
A search of the suspect’s belongings uncovered a lighter, cotton wool, and additional flammable materials.
The suspect, a man in his fifties from Umm Tuba, was taken in for questioning at the Oz Police Station. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
