Five men aged between 29 and 46 have been arrested in the UK on suspicion of planning a terror attack at a “specific location,” according to a statement by the Metropolitan Police cited by Sky News. Among those arrested are four Iranian nationals.
Authorities stated that police have been in contact with the potential target site to inform staff and provide relevant advice and support. The details of the intended location have not been publicly disclosed due to the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation.
Officers have also conducted searches at several properties linked to the suspects in London, Manchester, and Swindon as part of the inquiry.
The arrests come amid heightened concerns over foreign-backed threats in the UK, particularly in light of rising tensions between Iran and Western countries.
