Iran’s state television is reporting unverified claims regarding the possible death of Hossein Salami, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to initial reports, the IRGC’s General Command headquarters was struck during an Israeli attack. As of publication, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities.
Hossein Salami has led the IRGC since 2019 and is considered one of the most influential figures in Iran’s military leadership. He is known for his hardline rhetoric against Israel and the United States, and for overseeing key operations in coordination with Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Shiite militias in Iraq, and military structures in Syria.
If confirmed, his death would represent one of the most serious blows to Iran’s senior military command in recent decades. Earlier reports also claimed the death of Iran’s Chief of Staff, Mohammad Bagheri.
The Iranian government has yet to comment on the reports. According to local sources, an emergency meeting of the Supreme National Security Council is underway in Tehran.
